Store-bought frozen yogurt tends to have additives and other unhealthy ingredients. Often, there is too much sugar too. When you make your own frozen yogurt at home, you can make it sugar-free if you want- that is another great advantage!
So, what is the secret? Basically, you have to act like an ice cream maker. And what does an ice-cream maker do? It only stirs the ice-cream during the freezing process. This means that you have to take out your frozen yogurt mixture out of your freezer every half an hour or so, and dedicate yourself to stirring it well as to break the ice crystals. Do this for a few hours, and you will have a soft, creamy and smooth frozen yogurt as a result!

- 1 cup strawberry puree
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1⁄2 cup sugar
- 1⁄4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon of chopped almonds
- 1 tablespoon of chopped pistachios
When you make the strawberry puree, mix it with a cup of sour cream of your choice and slowly add vanilla and sugar (you can add more or less- to your liking). If you have a blender, you can blend all the ingredients well, if not you can use a hand-mixer.
Pour the mixture into the container and place it into the freezer. It takes about 6 hours until it freezes completely, but you should, as we have already advised, take the mixture out at least two times during the freezing process and beat or mix it a bit. Garnish with chopped almonds and pistachios, and enjoy the great texture and taste!
Homemade Honey & Banana Frozen Yogurt
- 1-1/2 cups Greek vanilla bean yogurt
- 2 frozen bananas (You can use peaches or mangoes as well)
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
The process is quite similar. First, you blend all the ingredients in your blender (or with your hand mixer), and then you pour the mixture into the plastic container and place it in the freezer.

- 1 cup Greek yogurt

- 1/4 teaspoon of cloves
